Advertise your roles

Are you a community group, charity, non-profit or public sector organisation? You can register your volunteering opportunities with us for free.

Before advertising your roles, it’s good to really think about why you’re involving volunteers, what you want to achieve and how you will do that in a way that benefits your organisation, your staff and volunteers. See our page on Why involve volunteers and our Nuts & Bolts guide to help you develop your role profiles

Register & Advertise your roles

Minimum quality standards:

Read our full Service Level Agreement for using Volunteer Connect.
In brief, to be eligible to register, your organisation will have to ensure that the volunteer will be:

  • welcomed whatever background they come from
  • safe
  • properly insured
  • adequately trained
  • supported and supervised
  • not used to replace paid staff
  • reimbursed out of pocket expenses e.g. travel (if you have paid staff)

How we advertise & promote your volunteer roles:

  • In Volunteer Connect - our new on-line volunteer role search system
  • In our Drop-in service which is delivered by Volunteer Centre Advisors
  • In the Volunteer Centre Monthly Bulletin; this includes a listing of the latest volunteer roles, with a circulation of around 2000 a month & downloadable from the Volunteer Centre website
  • We can review your advert and offer support to make it as clear, attractive and appropriate for volunteers.
  • Trustee roles can also be advertised here

Other useful information:

See our page on Good practice resources for information on good practice in volunteer management.

If you are not able to take on prospective volunteers, either because they are not suitable for your roles or your vacancies are already taken, please don’t let their good will and energy go to waste!   Please tell them about the Volunteer Centre and encourage them to come along to our drop-in.
