If you're one of the many people in Sheffield who's looking for something extra to do this December, here are a few opportunities. There are more of course-you can always come to our drop-in (up to the 16th December) and chat to a volunteer adviser about finding a role to suit you. But for short term opportunities, try these:
HARC (Homeless and Rootless at Christmas) is a registered charity founded in 1989.
"Every year we provide a safe and warm day shelter, which is open to all homeless and rootless vulnerable men and women between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.
We provide three free hot meals a day and guests are welcome to spend the entire day with us to help them get through what can be a very cold and lonely time of year.
This year, the project will be open from Christmas Day all the way through to New Year’s Day.
We need volunteers to help cook, provide entertainment/activities, and help us run services for our guests. If you can help, go to their website to find out more!
Give the gift of Christmas! It'll be lonely this Christmas for international students on deserted University campuses. Welcome one or two students into your home for four days of Christmas, learn about their culture and share your own traditions and home life.
