How to get started
Should I use a broker?
Yes, if possible. The employer organisation will be charged but it is money well spent. This is because the broker will:
- help the employer identify what they want to gain from an employee volunteering programme and help make this happen.
- use their local knowledge, contacts and experience to identify and arrange the best possible match – for both the employer organisation and the local community group or charity.
- help community groups and charities develop their employee volunteering opportunities so everyone gains maximum benefit.
- help align expectations and overcome any differences in culture and practice between the employer and the volunteer-involving organisation.

Can I set up my own employee volunteering programme?
Yes, you can and there are charities and employers that do so successfully. However, it is more time consuming and may not yield the same outcomes as when a broker is involved.
