I’m 16 or over
The Volunteer Centre helps anyone who is 16 or over to volunteer. Some of the organisations that involve volunteers will only recruit volunteers over 18, but there are others who are open to 16+. Come to the drop in advice sessions that we run three days a week to check out what is available. Here are our opening times.
I’m under 16
You can still volunteer (with a parent’s or guardian’s consent) but there can be difficulties with insurance which mean only a very few organisations take on volunteers who are under 16. Your options?
- Click here to see some volunteering opportunities that are open to 14 - 16 year olds. You will also find information on sources of funding to run volunteering projects for this age group.
- Talk to your school about helping you get into volunteering – there may be opportunities you don’t know about, or the school might be able to develop opportunities.
- With the help of a parent or guardian, contact local community centres, youth groups or churches to see if they run activities that you could get involved with.
