Looking for volunteers?
If you are a community group, charity or public sector organisation, you can register your volunteering opportunities with us. They will be:
- made available to people accessing our drop in sessions
- listed in our monthly Volunteer Centre Bulletin of new opportunities
- uploaded to the national volunteering website www.do-it.org.uk
Any ‘trustee’ opportunity will be automatically uploaded to www.trusteefinder.com. If you are a small organisation looking for trustees you can find useful advice on www.ncvo-vol.org.uk/trusteerecruitmentforsmallorganisations
To register with Sheffield Volunteer Centre you will need to fill in a request for volunteers form. You can also download guidelines for completing the form and a sample completed form.
To be eligible to register, your organisation will have to ensure that the volunteer will be:
- safe
- properly insured
- adequately trained
- supported and supervised
- not used to replace paid staff
- have any out of pocket expenses (in particular travel) reimbursed.

If you are not able to take on prospective volunteers, either because they are not suitable for your roles or your vacancies are already taken, please don’t let their good will and energy go to waste! Please tell them about the Volunteer Centre and encourage them to come along to our drop in - opening times.
