Our specialist New Beginnings project has been running for 8 years and has helped hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers to make a contribution to Sheffield and to get the positive benefits of being a volunteer. If you are a refugee or asylum seeker and would like to volunteer, contact us. The project runs on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please:
- Text us on 07743 924615 with your name and we will reply and arrange a time for you to come in and find out more about volunteering
- Or email us at refugee@vas.org.uk
- Or call James Kazadi on 0114 253 6655
- Or come to our office on a Tuesday or Thursday. To find us see: Map to Volunteer Centre Sheffield
- If you are an organisation that wants to involve refugees and asylum seekers as volunteers see Involving Refugee and Asylum Seeker Volunteers
Why Volunteer?
It’s a great way to meet new people, develop skills to help you get a job, increase your confidence and improve your English.
We have a team of advisors who are refugees themselves, who can:
- help you have a good experience of volunteering
- call organisations for you and make appointments
- help you fill in application forms
Ask our advisors what they think of volunteering or click on Stories and Photos to see what other refugees have to say. You’ll see there are lots of good reasons to volunteer and that volunteering includes many different activities.
To find out more about volunteering read More information for refugees for further information and answered questions.
