Volunteer Centre Sheffield is here to support you with involving volunteers. There can be real magic when volunteering is well managed, with everyone benefitting. We’re here to help you find volunteers, support you with good practice and link you in to the network of local support.
If you are involving volunteers, apply for the Sheffield Volunteer Standard, a locally developed quality mark recognising good practice in volunteer management.
Advertising your roles is a service we offer free of charge but we do have minimum quality standards that we expect from organisations. This is to ensure that volunteers will be safe, supported and benefit from volunteering.
See our advertise roles page for more information.
We can support you with the development of good practice through direct face to face support and written guides e.g. DBS, Expenses, Insurance or our Nuts and Bolts guide to developing inclusive roles.
The Volunteer Centre facilitates the development of good practice in volunteering through learning from the many organisations we work with. Our forums are a great place to keep updated, network and get peer support.
Voluntary Action Sheffield delivers a number of training courses providing guidance on how voluntary organisations can work with volunteers effectively.
New Volunteer Management Qualifications-VAS is offering a new online distance learning course in Volunteer Management. Participants learn at a place and pace to suit the learner. You will get support from a dedicated online tutor, full web-based course materials and additional resources. For details of our courses click here.
If you have any questions about volunteering or volunteer management see our Good Practice guides or contact us and we will be happy to help.
If you are setting up a new programme, new to managing volunteers or new in your post you can book in a 1-1 meeting with the Centre Manager.
